Named after Chanticleer’s founder, Louis A. Botto, the LAB Choir is a mixed honor choir for singers ages 14-20. The LAB Choir is currently in its 16th session. The purpose of the group is to promote high-level, small ensemble training for the area’s top young singers and to provide community service through free performances. The program includes rehearsals at Chanticleer’s home base, classes on advanced choral topics, participation in choral festivals, and performances for retirement communities and schools around the Bay Area. This current session of the LAB Choir has also been working closely with Chanticleer’s music director, William Fred Scott. Calls for membership in this ensemble are on-going and project-based. A typical commitment is for weekend rehearsals over the period of 2 to 2 1/2 months, community performances on weekends and weekday school performances. If you are interested in joining, contact LAB Choir manager Toran Davenport at firstname.lastname@example.org. Members are selected by teacher recommendation and an informal audition.
